Hello ,
This weekend I've been at Alex Haley Farm in Clinton, Tennessee. As I've shared before, I'm part of a cohort of faith leaders exploring how to prioritize the dignity,
hope, and joy of children. This is the work of the Children's Defense Fund. I urge you to learn about them and follow their work.
In recent weeks in the US, it seems very few people in power are asking about the well-being of children. Politicians continue to espouse fear and disrespect. The White House aims to defund programs that feed and care for children. State governments continue to ban books from schools and libraries.
Numerous executive orders are undermining economic infrastructure that supports children.
What does God call us to do when it comes to children?
Jesus prioritized children throughout his travels. He said we must become like children to fully embrace and be embraced by the beloved community.
Only when the most vulnerable among us are free, loved, respected, prioritized in our decision-making, and heard when they speak, will all of us be free.
How are you prioritizing the well-being of children in your work, ministry, family, school? That is a good place to put some enduring focus (and block out the flood-the-zone politics that continue grabbing headlines).
