I am attending the American Academy of Religion & Society for Biblical Literature this week. The meeting gathers about ten thousand academic scholars, religion junkies, and bible nerds in San Diego, California. It’s a place I get to see lots of people I know and appreciate deeply -- some of them for many years. It’s the people who wrote your seminary textbooks. It’s a meeting where collaborations and projects begin and sometimes years later we get to celebrate them.

How can we respond to seasons of great challenge and difficulty? We grieve and gather with other people of faith.
