Many writers in our community are working on big projects. There are hundreds of places to get stuck on such an endeavor. But also, and more significantly, the kinds of books we write influence what kind of person, teacher, mentor, minister, scholar, and writer we become.
Junot Diaz, author of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, which won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize in fiction, gets this. He says our identity my need to shift if we are to become the person who will write the book we desire to read and share with more readers.
