I want to talk to you about so many stories right now.

Like what is going on with the SBC (again!), and what I learned in my own journey away from them. The SBC fails to see and accept the full humanity of women, one of the key things I argue in this book. You can read more about what I learned and how women survived the SBC in Anatomy of a Schism.

I want to tell you what I noticed about being a novice, being new and overwhelmed by so much, moments I observed once again when I took my daughter to her college orientation last week.

I want to talk about the sandwich generation and what feels like being squeezed and stretched simultaneously between caring for parents and nurturing children who are trying to launch -- all at the same time. This "trilemma" of care for children, parents and employment, is challenging millions of caregivers, a majority of whom are women.

I want to have a conversation with you about self-advocacy, self-care, ambiguous loss and grief, and making room for joy, as we roll through summer. But the best I can do on that front is say, please take a look (and listen) at my recent conversations with Rev. Callie Swanlund.

This week holds more major tasks on all fronts. I'm grateful to feel like I have companions and connections that support me on the way. Last week I made a point of asking several friends to please check on me regularly. I know that sounds hard and it was vulnerable. It did not even feel like I had time or energy to ask. A big clue that I needed to ask for help. But it was and is worth the effort!

If you're there in your own life, I hope you will pause long enough to ask a friend or two to check in on you. I bet it will be worth it for you, too!
