Good morning,
For the last several weeks, many of us have gathered at the Lenten Writing Table. The writing table is a practice and a space for anyone who writes - sermons, stories, newsletter articles, memoirs, scholarly articles. The idea is to bring whatever you are working on and pull up a (virtual) seat next to others who are doing the same work. At the end, when
people share writing strategies, the most common idea is to just show up. We have found there is something sacred that happens when we just show up to the space.
Eileen had an idea to expand the writing table
practice and offer an experience for Lent. Same idea, but with some prompts and prayers that invited Lenten reflection. I got the privlege to lead a few of these, along with Traci, Elizabeth-Anne and Betsy. One day, we reflected on this quote from Joy Harjo: “Every poem is a prayer, a supplication in the cacophony of humanity." We wondered, maybe I am a poet or maybe not, yet how is my writing a
prayer? What does it ask?
I love the idea of listening to our writing to see what it might ask. It's a listen to your life vibe, and has meant something important for me this Lent. I wonder if you are asking and listening, too?
You are invited to show up, too. The writing table has Free Write Friday each week. This week will be a special Good Friday emphasis. We are offering an April discount code for people who attend this Friday. See you there?
Blessings to you this Holy Week,
Erin Robinson Hall
