Lenten practices and more for your #pastoralimagination
What is the purpose of Lent, ?
Learning to pay attention. And what is the purpose of paying attention? Being present to God
and each other and all of creation. And what happens when we pay attention and become more present to God and the world around us? We are transfigured into people fully alive as God intends humans to be.
We are made for this kind of holy paying attention, this becoming fully
ourselves.
Why then so much resistance? Let's think about our attention in Lent.
To pay attention to our own
feelings, pain, disappointment and deep senses of pleasure and joy can be an overwhelming experience. How can we be present to ourseves?
The troubling and terrifying are not merely in our minds or hearts. The world is overrun with both. How can we stay in the conversations that lead us to pay
attention?
Finding Our Way offers conversations just right for studies and gatherings after Easter. Includes a series of three interactive lessons, and includes a digital
study guide, links to short video clips for teaching, a presentation slide deck, and permission cards for reflection.
This study could work beautifully for:
a small group or Sunday school class in your
congregation
a clergy cohort
ministry support group
grief support group in a congregation
a leadership group of deacons, elders, ministry teams
a group of chaplains
a congregation discerning next steps during an interim time
