October 5 is the final day to become a member! (pssst... that's tomorrow!)
Good evening, ! I'm just getting home from the 40th anniversary celebration of Baptist Women in Ministry (BWIM) in Louisville, Kentucky. What a fantastic celebration and challenge from women called to ministry over many decades from many corners of Baptist life. It was also my delight to lecture and preach at Crescent Hill Baptist Church over the weekend. The church was a long time home to BWIM and a supporter and nurturer of women and lgbtiqa+ clergy over the last four decades (and more). I hope you will enjoy the news article by Pat Cole and the worship service
video. They are just below. This entire weekend I wanted to shout about the new community we are forming, but I kept my focus on the celebration at hand. We extended the deadline. And now we are down to the final day for joining this community. If you've been waiting... make it happen today.

So much of my writing, teaching, and public presenting in the last 20 years has been leading to this book.
Baptized & Ordained: How Women and Queer Clergy are Changing Ministry for Good has roots in my recent books and reports. You'll find links to them below. Please receive my invitation to enter a community of conversation, gatherings, reading, feedback, and learning from each
other. The practice of ministry is changing, not always for the good. Yet for 60 years growing numbers of women and queer ministers have been making it better. And it is time to share their stories, your stories, and strategies for change. A community is gathering around my book. But more importantly is it it is about you and me working together to understand
and continue meaningful changes to the practice of ministry. Right now more than ever, churches, and many other new forms of ministry, need a better understanding of what marginalization in place and the strategies that make meaningful change. The Baptized & Ordained community will take this on and offer all of us so much
more. When you join, you are making a year long commitment. You may choose to pay by the month or all at once. You have three
levels of support from which to choose. Pick the one that is right for you!

The narratives of five ordained Baptist women show just how much is at stake theologically and psychologically in the split of the SBC (1979-2000). This won't surprise you... the same issues are on the table now. Hint: it is the full humanity of women that is
under attack and the anxiety of holding on to power by white men that motivates the cultural and psychological struggles. Read more of my analysis in my BNG opinion piece drawing on a game metaphor from the book. Women are still being tossed around like footballs in 2023. Pastoral Imagination
